El boxeador estadounidense, Floyd Mayweather, anunció este miércoles en su cuenta de Instagram que no participará en el combate de Artes Marciales Mixtas el próximo 31 de diciembre contra el japonés Tenshin Nasukawa, que fue anunciado este lunes por la MMA japonesa, afirmando que «se hicieron arreglos sin su aprobación», según rt.

«Quiero disculparme sinceramente con mis seguidores por la información tan engañosa que se anunció durante esta conferencia de prensa, y puedo asegurarles que yo también estaba completamente cegado por los arreglos que se hicieron sin mi consentimiento ni aprobación», escribió el boxeador.

«Por el bien de los diversos fanáticos y asistentes que llegaron de todas partes del mundo para asistir a esta conferencia de prensa anterior, dudé en crear una gran escándalo y desmentir lo que se estaba diciendo y, por eso, lo siento mucho», agregó Mayweather.

Mayweather explicó que nunca había acordado un combate oficial con Tenshin Nasukawa y reveló que inicialmente le pidieron participar en una exhibición de 9 minutos de 3 asaltos con un oponente seleccionado por la organización de MMA japonesa «para un pequeño grupo de espectadores adinerados por una tarifa muy alta», por lo que al llegar a la conferencia de prensa, el propio boxeador y su equipo estaban «completamente desconcertados por la nueva dirección que estaba tomando este evento».

«Soy un boxeador retirado que gana una cantidad de dinero sin precedentes en todo el mundo por apariciones, charlas y pequeñas exposiciones ocasionales», concluyó la leyenda del boxeo.

Anteriormente, sin embargo, el luchador ruso de artes marciales mixtas Khabib Nurmagomédov retó a Mayweather a un combate, a lo que este respondió que está dispuesto a enfrentarse a Nurmagomédov, e incluso invitó a las grandes cadenas de televisión a «sacar el talonario».

Now that I am back on U.S. soil after a long and disappointing trip to Tokyo, I now have the time to address you, my fans and the media in regard to the upcoming event on December 31st that was recently announced. In fact (with all due respect) I have never heard of him until this recent trip to Japan. Ultimately, I was asked to participate in a 9 minute exhibition of 3 rounds with an opponent selected by the «Rizen Fighting Federation». What I was originally informed of by Brent Johnson of «One Entertainment» was that this was to be an exhibition put on for a small group of wealthy spectators for a very large fee. This exhibition was previously arranged as a «Special Bout» purely for entertainment purposes with no intentions of being represented as an official fight card nor televised worldwide. Once I arrived to the press conference, my team and I were completely derailed by the new direction this event was going and we should have put a stop to it immediately. I want to sincerely apologize to my fans for the very misleading information that was announced during this press conference and I can assure you that I too was completely blindsided by the arrangements that were being made without my consent nor approval. For the sake of the several fans and attendees that flew in from all parts of the world to attend this past press conference, I was hesitant to create a huge disturbance by combating what was being said and for that I am truly sorry. I am a retired boxer that earns an unprecedented amount of money, globally, for appearances, speaking engagements and occasional small exhibitions.
