El dominio es bueno y pegadizo, aunque tiene el problema de que si uno escribe ‘Sex’ en la barra de búsqueda de Google, Sex.com no sale en la primera página de resultados (en el momento de escribir estas líneas aparece en la segunda página en el puesto quince) fundamentalmente porque la web no tiene nada de interés, aunque recibe 120.000 visitas diarias.

Tampoco tiene a su favor un historial de éxito. Más bien lo contrario. La empresa propietaria, ESCOM, está en bancarrota y su único activo es el dominio.

Ellos pagaron 14 millones de dólares en 2004 y ahora tratan de recuperar algo de las pérdidas mediante una subasta, dentro de un proceso judicial por quiebra, que se celebrará en Manhattan el jueves 18 de marzo de 2010, a las 11.00 (hora local).

Si no va a estar ese día en Nueva York –tenga cuidado con los taxistas neoyorquinos por que esta semana se ha sabido que en los últimos dos años han timado a más de dos millones de pasajeros— puede hacer una puja online aquí.

Sólo sepa que deberá aportar un talón certificado por 1 millón de dólares para que se la admitan en la sala o realizar una transferencia previa por esa cantidad si puja online.
